VARIETY Children's Charity was founded as VARIETY
Club of Orlando in 1989 by Donna Draves and Connie Ginakes for the
purpose of helping the "special needs" children of Central Florida.
The VARIETY Club of the Palm Beaches (Tent # 65) sponsored and mentored
the new group. Our tent is an organization of volunteers who understand
the reward of knowing that their efforts will improve children's
lives.
VARIETY of Orlando raises money during the year through the sale
of "Gold Heart Pins" at local movie theatres, fundraising events
such as the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences sanctioned
Oscar Night® America Party, the Gold Heart Ball, the Dunhill Wine
Tasting and the "VARIETY Helps Kids Hearts" campaign with Central
Florida Albertsons stores.
VARIETY is also about working with children "hands-on", showing
them that we care and having fun. We invite you to share in our
efforts with your time, money, imagination, energy and heart.
VARIETY helps support over thirty children's charities in Central
Florida. your generous gift will help us to continue this assistance
throughout the coming year. VARIETY assists charities and individual
children wherever the need is greatest. Each year, over a thousand
children are entertained and enlightened at the opera, ballet, theatre
and movies. treated to fishing trips and skating parties. and join
in many other activities through the VARIETY-at-Work program.
